Daisy Bate, a native of Fresno, CA, began her cello studies at the age of ten. She graduated with her Master of Music degree in cello performance from Indiana University where she was a recipient of the Eva Heinitz Scholarship. Mrs. Bate received her Bachelor of Music degree from the University of California, Irvine while part of the Campus-wide Honors Program.

An active orchestral musician, Mrs. Bate has performed with orchestras all over the world. She has served as principal cellist for the Indiana University Concert Orchestra, the UC Irvine Symphony Orchestra, and the South Orange County Chamber Orchestra. Mrs. Bate has also played with orchestras such as the Louisville Orchestra, Richmond Symphony, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Owensboro Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Kentucky of Bowling Green, Indiana University Conducting Orchestra, and the Bloomington Camerata Orchestra. Mrs. Bate spent many summers attending music festivals where she was a scholarship recipient, including the Chautauqua Institution Summer Festival, Mendocino Summer Festival, Fairbanks Summer Arts Festival, and the Aspen Music Festival and School.

In addition to her extensive performing career, Mrs. Bate also has a love for teaching and over fifteen years of teaching experience. She has been a teaching assistant at the Brevard Summer Music Festival, on the music faculty at the Lake Sequoia Music Camp, a cello instructor at the RiverBend Academy School of Visual and Performing Arts, and was also part of the cello faculty at the Jou Music Institute in San Jose, CA. Mrs. Bate currently maintains a private teaching studio.

Mrs. Bate has worked with many renown artists such as Janos Starker, Alan Harris, Sharon Robinson, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Andrés Díaz, the Chilingirian String Quartet, and the St. Lawrence String Quartet. Her principal teachers have included Emilio Colón, Helga Winold, Margaret Parkins, Valerie Walden, and Nancy Skei. Mrs. Bate also plays the piano and flute.
